Farnham – Giggling Squid

We recently visited The Giggling Squid in Farnham, near my home town Fleet. This Thai restaurant is part of a chain – you can see if there is a restaurant near you here, unfortunately all outside London. The closest to London is Esher.

The Giggling Squid has both tapas options and also large plate dishes. We each tried the two dish meal combo which comes with a large plate and a starter. On the side we also ordered a number of dishes from the tapas menu as everything was so tempting.

I visited the restaurant for my mum’s birthday and between 5 guests we felt we tried over half the menu. From the photo you see that I ordered a red thai chicken curry with vegetable spring rolls. Opposite, my mum had the pad thai noodles with prawns. And in the middle we also tried the seared scallops (larger that the ones you get in a supermarket) with spicy lime dressing and the salt and pepper squid. They also offer a basket of prawn crackers with a sweet and spicy dip. As the waiters were bringing over our dishes, it was hard to resist digging in in order to take this photo!!

Our stand out favourite dish was the salt and pepper squid – a must try! My red thai curry was also tasty. Its also worth mentioning that the beef in oyster sauce was cooked medium well done and tasted great.

The restaurant is smartly decorated and creates a good atmosphere of a fine restaurant and the food was outstanding.

I’ve heard that the restaurant gets booked up quickly for dinner but we went for a late lunch and had no problem getting a booking the day before.
